My baby was born with Erb’s palsy, and I can’t get any answers about why this happened, or what the future is likely to hold.
The only thing they are telling me is that it will probably be fine soon. Is this true ?
Likelihood of Permanent Injury vs, what they tell you
Almost all doctor’s tell the parent of a baby born with Erb’s palsy that it will probably be alright with time. This is based on the ACOG (link to acog) literature which claim that only about 10% of erb’s palsy injuries in baby’s are permanent.
However. the actual studies on this subject, have found a much higher percentage of erb’s palsy injuries result in Permanent Injuries.
